Jumbo Egyptian: Juveniles (Breeder Set)

These quail look close to the same color as pharaoh or wild type but have a gene called Roux Dilute. This makes the bird not as sharp of coloring as the name suggests. This gene is sex linked recessive which means that the roosters are the only ones who will show definitive signs of the gene. The hens genotype has the ability to carry only one copy of the gene and because it is recessive it can be very hard to see. The males that carry one copy will appear to not carry it at and the ones with two copies will be distinguishable. Because of these sex-linked properties it is possible to create chicks that are sexable at hatch. Our Jumbo Egyptians also lay over 300 eggs a year that are very large in proportion to their already large body. These are a fun color to have and should definitely be a top choice for color aficionados and production minded people alike.
